This report provides information about the number of cancer-related surgeries performed at Pennsylvania hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. Surgical volume is reported for eleven types of cancers including bladder, brain, breast, colon, esophagus, liver, lung, pancreas, prostate, rectum, and stomach cancer. Included are surgeries focused on the treatment of cancer; diagnostic procedures (e.g., biopsies) are not included. Hospital-specific results are shown for all eleven cancer types. Surgeries performed in ambulatory surgery centers and hospital outpatient departments are also included for cancers of the bladder, breast, and prostate. This information can be helpful to cancer patients, their families, and others when making decisions about cancer surgical care in Pennsylvania.
